Moulin-Vieux, a renewal
Starting in April 2025, FMG undertook the renovation of the power plant and the intake canal, a complex project located in an urban area and involving a significant number of interactions with local residents and downstream stakeholders.
This project is part of a long-term maintenance strategy to ensure the plant’s continued operation and secure its future.
At the heart of this renovation is the turbine replacement. We selected a high-efficiency, dual-regulation Kaplan turbine, replacing a low-head Francis turbine. The turbine was designed by Watec, a Bavarian company, considering the specific characteristics of this waterfall, particularly the distribution of power throughout the year.

Furthermore, this overall renovation logically implied the repair of the supply channel, the walls of which were rebuilt with fiber-reinforced mortar.
